Robert Crumb predicted Facebook and social media over 40 years ago. Ironically, Crumb in a Time interview here wrote of his unique brand of satire: “I think that you had to be really, really alienated to get that point. You had to be very alienated from the culture.”

Speaking about his primary influences, he discounts museum artists entirely, stating:

“All the primary influences for me go back to those childhood comic books and TV shows and old movies that I saw on television. Everything basically comes from that.”

Considering that the current generations’ primary influences are video games and social media, it will be interesting to see what comes from that. Any thoughts?
